| Security Practicum: Essential Home Wireless Security Practices
802.11b networks are proliferating like mad. Even though faster wireless networks are now available, 802.11b offers users what they want at a reasonably low price. While the high throughput of other technologies is attractive to large Local Area Networks (LANs) and people wanting to use wireless for high-end home entertainment purposes, 802.11b's 11Mbit/sec is more than enough to hook up a handful of clients in your home to the Wide Area Network (WAN), which in most cases is simply the Internet. However, as we have seen in War Flying San Diego and War Flying Silicon Valley, many users are not taking adequate steps to secure their 802.11b networks. This guide is going to give a practical overview of the methods you can use to lock down your network as tightly as possible without purchasing additional software or setting up Virtual Private Network (VPN) support.
The man who makes the tennis world nervous
Davydenko denies any wrongdoing, but the episode exposed a world apart from the glitz and glamour of big-time tennis, in which vast reservoirs of international cash move on obscure matches. The biggest events on the tennis calendar are the four Grand Slam tournaments. Roughly $30 million was wagered on the Australian Open final in January -- much of it while the match was in progress. The Slams also account for most of the championship points that are awarded on the Tour. (Novak Djokovic received 1,100 points for his win Down Under.) But the life blood of professional tennis is the 65 tournaments the ATP hosts each year. These far-flung events give unsung players a chance to move up the rankings ladder. But because the early rounds are usually played away from the cameras, they have become prime entry points for a gambler who wishes to insinuate himself.
SECURITY THUGS WENT SIC-O ON ME
Because of the incident last month in which a fan named Jason Silverstein was ejected for holding up a "Fire Isiah" sign, we were naturally curious what had happened now. I had overheard the fan tell security his crime was yelling for Jared Jeffries to be taken out of the game. As we followed the alleged heckler being escorted out, about four Garden security officers tried intercepting our path. I got pushed around pretty good by a couple of the green blazers while in chase of the heckler, as security became more physical than anything that happened between Quentin Richardson and Paul Pierce. Suddenly, a security officer, in the heat of the moment, yanked my press credential right off my neck as I walked. The green blazers screamed for us to back off, saying we were not allowed to be in the rotunda, which is false.

Local elections to be decided Saturday
For many Louisiana voters taking part in today's presidential primary, this might be Sublime Saturday compared to the hoopla of Super Tuesday in other states just four days ago. In some parts of St. Tammany Parish, though, there is more at stake. All five seats on the Mandeville City Council are up for grabs, with two incumbents seeking re-election and two others hoping to remain on the job with new assignments. Voters in Madisonville will consider 10 candidates for the five seats on the Town Council. And in the 6th Ward north of Pearl River, the ballot includes a special election to fill a vacancy for justice of the peace. There are 64,713 registered Republicans and 46,406 registered Democrats in St. Tammany Parish, according to Registrar of Voters M.
Who'll make the cut for Shark's second round?
Not so, said Iemma's spokesman yesterday, who added that the boss had no interest in any property in the region. The agent selling the property, called Karl Karl, also denies it has been sold and is still marketing the expansive country retreat, which features a pavilion style main residence with two self-contained guest suites. MOVING CAMP The Australia Zoo pioneer Bob Irwin has maintained his silence in the wake of claims he has fallen out with Terri Irwin, the wife of his late son, Steve. This week it emerged Bob had bought a property at Wattle Camp near Kingaroy, where PS had previously reported the 68-year-old had been spending time since the alleged falling out. .
