SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Micrel Inc., NASDAQ: MCRL, an industry leader in analog, high bandwidth and Ethernet IC solutions, today announced that it is launching the world's first programmable receiver featuring jam avoidance. The MICRF218, which is part of Micrel's QwikRadio(R) family, is targeted at garage door openers and tire pressure monitoring systems. "This is a crucial feature due to recent homeland security measures deploying a new mobile radio system.
Activists say NJ report shows need for homosexual 'marriage'
Once you start going down this road of the government getting behind homosexual unions, you create incentives for further pro-gay policies," he warns. New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine has promised to sign a same-sex marriage bill into law, but not until after the 2008 elections. Political analysts from both parties say Corzine fears a backlash of conservative voter turnout that could cost Democrats control of Congress if another "gay marriage" law went into effect before November. .

The body of the Dripping Springs man who went missing after a kayaking accident Feb. 17 has been found about 30 miles south of the Port Aransas beach near where his kayak capsized, according to an official with the Kleberg County Police Department. Stephen Stafford, 20, was kayak fishing with a co-worker before dawn when both men decided to return to the shore, officials said. After waves capsized their kayaks, Stafford's co-worker made it to the shore, but Stafford didn't. U.S. Coast Guard officials searched for Stafford for two days, but failed to find him. Around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Coast Guard officials in a helicopter found Stafford's body along a desolate stretch of beach at the Padre Island National Seashore. The beach is about 30 miles south of where he was reported missing, said Kleberg County police Sgt.

Uribe supporters won big in yesterday's congressional elections, paving the way for passage of the U.S-Colombia free trade deal. With strong support in Congress and probable reelection in May, Uribe's offensive against the FARC will likely intensify. All of this is pretty remarkable given that just a few years ago the FARC greeted the newly elected president by firing mortars at the presidential palace while he took the oath of office inside. The attack, which killed dozens, led many analysts to offer grim assessments on Colombia's future. Uribe, who came to office after the fail of several "peace initiatives," has proven them wrong.) (Update: FARC terrorists continue their killing spree in their effort to destabilize Colombia's democracy. This time, AP reports, they gunned down eight unarmed town officials while they ate lunch.) Venezuela's Hugo Chavez gets lots of media attention with his anti-American rants.

I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. I was flipping around the tv and landed on ESPN. I figured that listening to more in depth coverage of Tom Brady's ankle would be tv's version of Ambien, it would help me get my zzzzs. However, I made one fatal flaw, one that many mortals in Greek mythology made when looking at a Gorgon, I took a peek at the scroll on the bottom of the screen. There were two categories, NFL and SANTANA. Much to my astonishment, the Twins had agreed to send Johan Santana to the Mets for a hamburger today (pending the Mets contract extension for Santana). Well, maybe not a hamburger, but the Mets package of Phil Humber, Carlos Gomez, Deolis Guerra and Kevin Mulvey. Mulvey, wasn't that Jerry called his girlfriend who's name he couldn't remember. Oh no, that was Mulva.
Screw caps call for some arm twisting
Any recipient suspecting you to be a cheapskate could always Google the bottle and get set straight pretty quickly. I'm glad everyone was happy in the end. But remember: All wine closures have their advantages and their faults, screw caps included. The big worry there is something called "reduction." An airtight seal can give wines a sulphury, barnyard smell. Screw caps remain a controversial choice for reds designed for long cellaring. So don't hold on to those bottles for too long. ----------- Do you have a wine or spirit question for Bill Daley? Write to him at the Chicago Tribune, 435 N.
